Viroi Park

Viroi Park is one of the most beautiful natural attractions so close to Gjirokastra city. You can see it in the entrance of Gjirokastra in the road Tepelene Gjirokaster. Viroi is a karstic water source, which is full of water during the winter time and spring, but dry in summertime. It is explained by the siphoning phenomena, when the underground waters are ponded up in a reservoir behind the spring. The cave source is about 6-8 meters long, and 3-4 meters wide, with a depth in 22 meters. The temperature of the water is about 13-14 grade. Close to the spring there is a rich wildlife. The park is a very relaxing area and you can visit it for coffee or a lunch, or you can walk around and bike around the park. There are many divers who like to explore beneath the waters of Viroi. The view coming from the depth of Viroi Waters is just amazing. For the first time the underwater world of Viroi was fixed in some fantastic photos of Irena Stangierska.
