CHURCH OF SAINT MARY – AREA OF SERAN PERAT

It has a unique internal structure: the one-nave naos is covered by a cylindrical vault in the longitudinal direction, whose central part is raised. Additionally, the narthex on the west side is covered by a cylindrical vault, and is higher – perhaps with the intent to divide it into two floors. The construction of the internal structure is also reflected externally, where there are three different levels of slate roof in succession. While the exterior is relatively bare, the interior is contains many interesting frescoes. In the absence of epigraphic data, with analogy to other churches of the same type, it is supposed that its construction dates back to the second half of the 17th century.
