This area has been identified as the town of Parauej Eriboia, settled by the Illyrian tribe who lived in the region of Permet. Research has also suggested a second hypothesis that the ruins were not a city but an Illyrian fort. The castle construction has 4 distinct stages: first in 3rd-4th centuries BC.; second in 3rd -5th centuries; third in 6th-18th centuries, in which significant medieval reconstruction occurred; and fourth in the early 19th century, in which military fortifications and a gallery were constructed, and facilities built for the deployment of heavy weapons.
