On 15 September 2020 in Gjirokastra a training course on Digital Marketing for tourism was organized by Visit Gjirokastra Association with the support of RisiAlbania.
There were 20 participants taking part in the event, owners of hotels, restaurants, artisans’ shop, tourist guides and other related tourism businesses.
The lecturer, Mrs. Alma Gerxhani, a digital Marketing expert, is Director of Manderina Promotions a digital agency based in Tirana and member of DMO Albania which developed the tourism portal of Gjirokastra www.visit-gjirokastra.com
It was a hand-on training focused on the most demanded skills in digital marketing of tourism. Some google products such as Google business, maps, analytics webmaster tools were explained in details with concrete examples on best practices from the region .
Participation in the portal was highlighted as one of the main tools for business promotion, reaching hundreds of thousands people trough website and social media, thus offering local businesses incomparable visibility within Albania.
Participants were guided through building their online organic ranking as well as using paid marketing for better results. All forms of advertising in Facebook and Instagram were explained as well as Google ad-words as effective ways for reaching customers.
Participants were actively involved with concrete questions and analysis of different case studies. With Covid-19 situation a lot of tourism businesses and activities were reduced or put into halt, nevertheless digital skills are highly required nowadays and the days to come and a good presence is the ultimate tool for a tourism business to succeed.
