VGA participates in USAID-EDGE event

Visit Gjirokastra Association (VGA) presented the tourism offer of the Region at the event “Regional linkages and cooperation in active tourism – key factor in the post-COVID-19 recovery period” organized by the USAID Project EDGE.

The USAID Economic Development, Governance, and Enterprise Growth (EDGE) Project in partnership with USAID Developing Sustainable Tourism in Bosnia and Herzegovina (Turizam), Agency for Promotion and Support Tourism in the Republic of North Macedonia, and IME Increasing Market Employability Programme, are organizing the regional event,
Recent developments with COVID-19 have almost entirely globally suspended the travel industry, with the most acute impacts due to official travel restrictions, event/ activities cancellations, and risk aversion.
The event’s objective was to explore and communicate the potential for regional business cooperation within the Western Balkan Economies and opportunities to recover tourism in the post-COVID – 19 period.
The one-day Virtual Tourism Exhibition and B2B Matchmaking Event aimed at maintaining  a two-segment structure: promoting tourism packages from Western Balkan destinations and one-to-one meetings.

The presentation of VGA was focused in the creation of new tours and experiences, through revitalizing traditions and combining culture with nature and outdoor activities in order to create value for its members. The destination is being promoted online through www.visit-gjirokastra.com and its social media channels.

The project of Branding Visit Gjirokastra and establishing VGA is supported by Swiss Agency of Cooperation and Development through Risi Albania project.
